| Board of Directors Positions The Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society(REAPS) is overseen by a board of directors. The board consists of volunteers, who support the REAPS mandate, have paid their membership fee and have an active interest in protecting the environment. Board members serve one year terms, and are elected by the members each January at the Annual General Meeting. Any member, who is not employed by REAPS, may choose to run for a director position. Incumbent board members may stand for re-election if they choose. During the year, new directors may be appointed, at the discretion of the current board, to fill vacant positions. As well as fulfilling the duties specific to their portfolio, all directors have a responsibility to actively participate, promote and encourage participation in delivering the REAPS mandate and programs. President: chairs meetings and supervises the other directors in the execution of their duties. When the Garden Director's position is not filled supervises employees of the Compost Demonstration Garden. Assists other Directors in fulfilling their duties. Attends monthly executive meetings. Vice-President: carries out the duties of the president during his/her absence. Actively seeks candidates for the Executive Positions prior to each AGM. Attends monthly executive meetings. Secretary: keeps minutes of society meetings, conducts the correspondence of the society, and files society's records and documents at the office. Attends monthly executive meetings. Treasurer: keeps the financial records, provides financial statements monthly at the executive meeting, assists with preparing a yearly budget to be presented at the AGM and completes a year end statement to presented at each AGM. Attends monthly executive meetings. Fundraising Co-ordinator: plans and organizes fundraising activities. Actively searches for funding and submits funding proposals. Completes applications for Casino and Bingos. Attends monthly executive meetings. Promotion, Advertising, & Special Events Co-ordinator: plans and organizes special events; places advertisements and encourages media coverage of the society's activities. Attends monthly executive meetings. align="left">Membership & Volunteer Co-ordinator: maintains the register of members and canvasses volunteers and members for the society and for events. Attends monthly executive meetings. Newsletter Co-ordinator: prepares, publishes and distributes the REAPS newsletter at least four times (preferably six) annually. Attends monthly executive meetings. Directors At-Large (4): assists other board members in their duties, or can focus on a special project, based on their skills and areas of interest, that are not currently covered by the other positions. Attends monthly executive meetings.
