Board of Directors

Board members actively participate, promote, and encourage participation in the delivery of the REAPS mandate and programs. Board members must keep their membership current and have an active interest in protecting the environment. All positions are for a one-year term, and all positions are open. The Board is elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. Any member, who is not employed by REAPS, may choose to run for a position. Incumbent board members may stand for re-election if they so choose. During the year, new directors may be appointed, at the discretion of the current board, to fill vacant positions. All positions work with the Executive Director, to achieve the REAPS mandate and goals. The positions are as follows:


President: chairs monthly board meetings and the Annual General Meeting. Supervises the Executive Director. Actively participates, promotes and encourages participation in delivering REAPS mandate and programs. Assists other Directors in fulfilling their duties. Attends monthly board meetings.

Vice-President: carries out the duties of the president during his/her absence. Actively seeks candidates for the Executive Positions prior to each AGM. Attends monthly board meetings.

Secretary: records minutes of society meetings, distributes monthly meeting minutes to board members prior to the next monthly board meeting, records the Annual General Meeting minutes and distributes to board. Actively participates, promotes and encourages participation in delivering REAPS mandate and programs. Attends monthly board meetings.

Treasurer: completes the reporting of business documentation for the society. Documentation can include employee related pay and tax statements, safety certifications, Registered Charity Annual Report, ROEs, monthly and year-end financial statements, and the balance sheet. Reviews the completed funding proposals by Executive Director where treasurer is required to sign off on documentation. Actively participates, promotes and encourages participation in delivering REAPS mandate and programs. Attends monthly board meetings.

Fundraising Co-ordinator: plans and organizes fundraising activities. Actively searches for funding and submits funding proposals. Attends monthly board meetings.

Promotion, Advertising, & Special Events Co-ordinator: plans and organizes special events; places advertisements and encourages media coverage of the society’s activities. Actively participates, promotes and encourages participation in REAPS mandate and programs. Attends monthly board meetings.

Membership & Volunteer Co-ordinator: maintains the register of members and canvasses volunteers and members for the society and for events. Attends monthly board meetings.

Newsletter Co-ordinator: prepares, publishes and distributes the REAPS Report newsletter six times a year. Attends monthly board meetings.
